nt2unix - a Windows to Unix porting library

What is nt2unix?

nt2unix is a small software library which provides a small but very useful subset of WIN32-API-calls to Unix systems.

But what is the use of this? You can

  • port software from the Windows platform to Unix.
  • develop portable software from scratch and have shared code for Windows and Unix.

nt2unix has been developed to make software projects at the LfBS multi-platform aware. First it was used in the SVMlib-Project to provide platform independent thread and memory management support. An actual project is MP-MPICH, which makes intense use of both operating systems APIs.
