What is nt2unix?
nt2unix is a small software library which provides a small but very useful subset of WIN32-API-calls to Unix systems.
But what is the use of this? You can
- port software from the Windows platform to Unix.
- develop portable software from scratch and have shared code for Windows and Unix.
nt2unix has been developed to make software projects at the LfBS multi-platform aware. First it was used in the SVMlib-Project to provide platform independent thread and memory management support. An actual project is MP-MPICH, which makes intense use of both operating systems APIs.
- A paper describing nt2unix has been published and can be downloaded here.
- More detailed documentation about nt2unix will be available soon!
