The Chair for Operating Systems (Univ.-Prof. Dr. habil. Th. Bemmerl) provides the following
student or bachelor thesis (Studien- oder Bachelorarbeit) in the range of
Embedded Real-Time Systems:
Development of a new Technical Experiment for BSPR
Background
The pratical course BSPR (Betriebssystempraktikum Realzeitverarbeitung) could
be improved by technical experiments that help to illustrate real-time
systems.
That course is based on a experiment board with an Atmel AVR ATmega32
Microcontroller that has 32 digital I/O-Pins, 8 analog ADC inputs and an
output stage for two motors or one stepping motor.
Different ideas exist that can be realised optionally:
- Pendulum with a row of LEDs to create text
- 1-D or 2-D rocker to balace a ball
- levitating ball on an electromagnet
- output of vector-graphics on an oscilloscope
- programming of a two-wheeled roboter
Assingment
- Planning and construction of experiment
- Programming of demo application
- Development of a lesson for the practical course
- Document results
We offer
- Comfortable working-environment, as well as a good equipped Computer infrastructure
- Personal and engaged supervision
Profil of requirements
- Intermediate diploma of Electro- and Informationstechnics or (technical) computer science
- Alternatively the according prerequisites for a Bachelor's thesis
- Basic programming skills in C/C++
- Microcontroller experience recommended (in particular AVR)
- Technical skills (construction, soldering, etc.)
- Competence to work autonomous and creative
