What do I need to download?
Linux 2.x or Solaris x86/Sparc
For these platforms, you probably want to use MP-MPICH with the SCI-Device ch_smi.
This variant is called SCI-MPICH. To use it, consider the following points:
- First of all, you'll need to download the current MP-MPICH source distribution.
- An "update" from older versions of ch_smi is not possbile; please download the complete
source archives of MP-MPICH
- Configure with the option: --with-device=ch_smi --with-sisci=/path/to/sisci
Windows NT 4.0 / Windows 2000 / Windows XP / Windows 2003
- The easiest way to use MP-MPICH on Windows (aka NT-MPICH) will be to download the binary release of
MP-MPICH (including the remote execution tool
RexecShell see: NTRexec).
- If you want to have the source and compile it yourself (tested with Visual C++
version 6.0 and Visual C++ .Net), you may also choose to download the source release of MP-MPICH.
- Note: NT-MPICH can also be used with SCI! In this case, download the source release of MP-MPICH and the SISCI library and driver from Dolphin and compile MP-MPICH yourself. If you experience problems, give us a note, we might be able to help.
Current Releases
MP-MPICH: version 1.5, 6. Dec 07, including:
- SCI-MPICH
- NT-MPICH
- META-MPICH
General Notes
- The version number of MP-MPICH is not related to that of the ANL MPICH. MP-MPICH is based on MPICH 1.2.0,
but has since that changed significantly.
- Some versions of the Internet Explorer are known to mess around with the filenames of the downloaded archives.
Make sure the downloaded files have a proper name & extension as stated behind the link.
- For installation, compilation and usage instructions, refer to the MP-MPICH manual which is included in
the distributions and also separately available from the documentation page.
Please read it completely and carefully, including the FAQ section!
For reference only:
- The original MPICH distribution from ANL can be downloaded from ANL
